Madagascar is a high quality cocoa producing nation.

Madagascar has in fact a long history of chocolate production, dating back to the French colonial times. Madagascar was formerly a major cocoa exporter supplying France.

Unlike cacao producing regions in other countries, Madagascar’s cacao plantations yield cacao all year round.

Varieties -
  • Criollo - the highest quality cacao beans in Madagascar.
  • Forastero - the most commonly found variety.
  • Trinitario - a cross between Criollo and Forastero.
