Creator Universal has a 50 Ha test project planted with Cacao trees. If this is sufficiently profitable, the area will be expanded.

Madagascar has in fact a long history of chocolate production, dating back to the French colonial times. Madagascar was formerly a major cocoa exporter supplying France.
Unlike cacao producing regions in other countries, Madagascar’s cacao plantations yield cacao all year round.
Varieties -
- Criollo - the highest quality cacao beans in Madagascar.
- Forastero - the most commonly found variety.
- Trinitario - a cross between Criollo and Forastero.
