It is well documented that pistachios and sunflower kernels have the highest levels of phytosterols among the nuts and seeds that are most commonly consumed as snack foods in the United States & in many other countries.

As an ingredient in snack foods, sunflower seeds are increasingly popular. Sunflower seeds are more commonly eaten as a snack than as part of a meal. They can also be used as garnishes or ingredients in various recipes. The seeds may be sold as in-shell seeds or dehulled kernels. The seeds can also be sprouted and eaten in salads.
